REFURBISHMENT OF MASONRY

Rib lath is ideal for refurbishing damaged or aged masonry walls, when a key for rendering is not certain due to disintegration or softening of the wall face.

Lath should be fixed with apexs fo ribs against the wall, edge ribs of sheets nesting into each other should be wire-tied every 15 cm and ends of sheets should be lapped not less than 2.5 cm and nesting ribs securely tied together.

Stanless steel fixings should be used at sufficient intervals to hold the lath firmly in position.

Rib lath can be used as a background for plaster work appied over insulation slabs. The illustration showing lath fixed to ‘Z’ furrings located at 60 cm intervals. And securely fastened to the wall.

The lath is fixed through each rib into the flange of the furring using self-tapping galvanized screws. End laps fo sheets over furring should be 2.5 cm minimum and between furrings 10 cm. with nesting ribs securely tied together.

When applied externally, the use of stanless steel lath, furrings and fixings is advisable. Lath can also be fixed using suitable insulation fasteners instead of ‘Z’ furrings.
